Since age 3, Greg Hope has been on skis. Skiing just seemed like the natural thing to do growing up in the small ski town of Telluride. His parents quickly got him involved with the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club where he started in alpine racing, but this challenge wasn’t enough for Hope. He soon found himself competing in moguls for several years and then began his career at age 14 where he entered into his first big mountain/freeride competition.
Since then, Hope has stood on top of many podiums. Some of the most notable results being first place in the Solomon Extreme Freeride Competition in 2011 for Junior Men’s Skiing and 1st place in last year’s Telluride’s Subaru Freeride Series.
At age 20, Greg made his first big debut. Oakley brought famed skiers Seth Morrison and Jacob Wester to Telluride to film Surviving Telluride in 2013 and Hope found himself leading his childhood idols down the big mountain ski lines such as The Why, Grandfather and San Joaquin Couloir. Over the years, Greg has been seen in Freeskier Magazine and Outside Television; and garnered sponsorships from Oakley and Wagner Custom Skis.
Where will Telluride’s third generation local find himself next? Stay tuned.
